-   FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS  -

I am new to Pilates, where do I start?

To give you the best possible Pilates experience, we highly recommend that clients who are new to Pilates or to our studio start with a 30 minute Initial Assessment. Our Teacher will ask you a few questions and do some specific tests to see if Reformer Pilates will be suitable for your or not. Either way, you will be given a recommendation on what would be best for you going forward. Our Initial Assessment will be provided for FREE as we believe the best way to start a potential new relationship is to give first and delight second. To book for your complementary Initial Assessment you can call us on 9530 0940, send us an email or do so online.

How early should I arrive for class?

We recommend you arrive at least 10 minutes before class. All group classes start promptly, so for the safety and enjoyment of all participants please be at class on time – the warm-up is an important aspect of each class and your spot may be given away if you are more than 5 minutes late.

How do I book a class?

The first step is to create an Integrated Body Arts account through our booking system Mind Body Online, either on your smart phone, or the Mind Body or Integrated Body Arts website. Click here to find out more. Booking classes online requires class credits which can be purchased online or at reception. When you book a class, one class credit is automatically deducted. You can book classes up to 4 weeks in advance. Please be at class on time – your spot may be given away if you are more than 5 minutes late.

What if a class is full?

If a class is full, you can waitlist for it. Waitlist spots nearly always come through so only waitlist if you are certain you can attend the class. Once you have been allocated a spot via email you are confirmed for the class, so please check your email regularly. Once you are added to the class our normal 8 hour cancellation policy applies.

How do I cancel a booking?

If you can no longer make it to your session or class, please cancel your booking online. For all Studio Sessions (Private, Duo & Trio) 24 hours notice is required to cancel or reschedule. For Group Reformer (1:5) and group classes, you can freely cancel up to 8 hours prior to the class start time. If you cancel less than 8 hours before the start of class, this will count as a late-cancel. Cancellations 8 hours or more before class will automatically refund your class credit.
If you late cancel or no-show and are on a session/class pass you will lose a credit. If you are on a Membership and late-cancel or no-show 3 times in 28 days your booking privileges will be suspended for a week. Any Group Reformer (1:5) classes you have booked will be cancelled.

How often do I need to attend classes/sessions?

Depending on your goals, exercise habits and other activities, we recommend at least 1 to 2 classes/sessions a week. Even attending 1 class/session a week you would feel the benefit of doing a class/session with us. We are also more than happy to sit with you to discuss the best and most sustainable options for you.

Do I need to fill out any forms?

You will be required to fill out a New Client Form prior to your first visit. Feel free to download it and bring it in with you. Please have a glance over if you do have a known condition or symptoms as you may require medical clearance before participating in some classes. New Client Form

I have/had a past injury, niggles, aches and pains

Please always let the Teacher know at the beginning of class if there are any issues, even if they know about your injury, if it's not feeling good that day. Let the Teacher know if you have a past injury, have had surgery or if there is an area or exercise you need to avoid. They will make sure to give you alternatives during the class. If you have had an acute injury or have had surgery we recommend booking an Initial Assessment and possibly a Private Sessions for your first visit.

What if I’m pregnant?

It is not suitable to start Pilates for the first time during pregnancy, however if you are a client you may continue your sessions after consulting your Teacher. Please note that depending on your condition or which trimester you are in, you may be asked to continue with private sessions (as a group may no longer be the best environment for you).

What is the studio etiquette?

Our aim is to provide classes in a friendly and encouraging atmosphere. Clients are expected to conduct themselves in a courteous and professional manner at all times. Please either switch off mobile phones or put them on silent during sessions/classes. We ask that you leave your shoes at the shoe cabinet upon entry into the studio. If you need to leave a class early, kindly notify your Teacher prior to class. Please wipe down your mats & reformer beds at the end of each class. If you have any personal items such as a phone or jewellery in class please store them to the side of the room of shelf where no one can step on them, however we recommend leaving valuables at home as Integrated Body Arts takes no responsibility for their safety.

What do I need to bring?

Props and mats are supplied for all classes. We recommend you bring a drink bottle – filtered water is provided in the studio. Glasses are available if you forget your bottle. You might also want to bring a small towel for personal use.

What should I wear?

Wear something you feel comfortable to work out in such as stretchy fitted clothing. Please do not wear any clothes with zippers & remove any sharp jewellery as they can damage the Pilates apparatus. Only socks are allowed to be worn when using our Reformers – if you need Pilates grip socks, we have some that can be purchased in our studio.

What's the fine print on Memberships?

Suspend Memberships: You have a yearly suspension allowance of 8 weeks on any membership. Suspensions are a minimum of 2 weeks at a time, your payments are suspended while on freeze. If you are sick or injured you can send us a medical certificate and your freeze time will not count towards your 8 week yearly allowance. Membership Cancellation: New memberships have a 12 week commitment. Memberships will continue beyond the 2 week initial commitment unless Integrated Body Arts is notified of a cancellation request in writing. If you do not wish to continue after the 12 week commitment, we require 14 days written notice for membership cancellation. Refunds: Sorry we do not give refunds.
